Abtract
This study aims to examine and analyze various effective uses of technology in English language learning for early childhood. The methods used are literature studies and observations of learning activities in several early childhood education institutions. The results of the study show that childhood is a golden period to start language learning, including the introduction of English as a second language (K2). Using games as a learning tool has proven to be more effective and enjoyable for children. In addition, the introduction of English vocabulary can be done through various learning media that focus on children’s direct experiences (Khomsin & Rahimmatussalisa, 2021). The use of digital devices such as learning applications and educational games can make the learning process more exciting and interactive while creating a richer learning atmosphere. In addition, technology provides opportunities to present materials in a more diverse way and can be adjusted to the needs and learning preferences of each child (Nasution et al., 2025).

Keyword: English language skills, early childhood, development principles, approaches and utilization of technology in learning.

INTRODUCTION
English language teaching methods have changed drastically with the advent of technology. Technology makes the learning process more interesting and productive and accelerates the progress of students. In addition, technology also develops ways to teach and broaden students’ horizons. Experts assert that the application of technology in education opens up access to new knowledge and provides tools that have the potential to revolutionize teaching methods (Hambali et al., 2023).

The use of technology in English learning has a positive impact on student motivation and participation. Interesting and interactive technological tools can increase student interest in the English learning process (Rofi’i et al., 2023). Technology in education is the result of the advancement of science that is currently developing. The integration of technology in learning makes it easier for teachers and students during the learning process in the classroom. Now, teachers are required to utilize technology so that students’ motivation and interest in learning increase (Mas, 2024).

Educational technology itself is the systematic application of science in the design, development, use, management, and evaluation of learning resources and processes so that learning objectives are achieved effectively and efficiently. This technology does not only include hardware but also software and human resources (brainware) (Revola, 2024). The use of technology such as English applications, game-based learning, and online platforms is very effective in improving students’ speaking skills. In addition, collaboration between English teachers and professionals who use English in their daily work can provide valuable experiences and insights for students (Melati et al., 2023).

There are three main principles in the development and utilization of learning technology, namely the system approach, a structured and sequential way to solve problems by viewing all interrelated components as a whole. Learner-centered, focusing on the needs and characteristics of students as the center of the education and learning process. Maximizing and diverse use of learning resources, using various learning resources optimally to support the learning process. Translation is a process of changing text from the original language to the target language while maintaining the same meaning. The structure of the target language should be maintained without changing the original form of the text. The grammar translation method has long been used by language teachers to help students understand vocabulary and grammar through direct translation from the mother tongue. This method emphasizes students’ ability to read and understand target language texts (Nuriah & Khoirunnisa, 2024).

METHOD
This study uses a literature review method with the aim of analyzing 20 relevant scientific papers with the title “The Use of Technology in Early Childhood English Learning“. This method was chosen to obtain a comprehensive picture of the effective and efficient use of technology in improving the English language skills of early childhood, especially in early grades (kindergarten), by reviewing journals published in the last five years (2020-2025) indexed by Google Scholar and other journal databases, with a focus on articles that discuss the use of technology in early childhood English learning. The research flow is as follows:

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Here are the uses of technology in English learning:

  1. Duolingo Learning

A popular English learning application is “Duolingo“. This application contains interactive and fun exercises for various materials, such as grammar (tenses, parts of speech, active-passive sentences, and other sentence structures), vocabulary with themes such as food, family, and nature, as well as listening exercises through audio conversations and instructions in English. Duolingo is designed so that users can learn easily and effectively at any time via web or mobile devices, with a method that combines learning and games to increase student motivation and confidence (Haryadi et al., 2023).

  1. Learning by Using Songs (English for Young Learners)

Learning English for early childhood, known as English for Young Learners, has been introduced globally as a foreign language. By using songs, children can improve their English skills, especially in listening, speaking, and expanding vocabulary (Pudjiati et al., 2024).

  1. Learning Through Games (Teaching English by Games)

Teaching English by games or teaching English through games is an effective way that is very suitable for children from an early age. This approach aims to prevent children from feeling bored when learning English. Educational games can increase students’ self-confidence and enthusiasm for learning. Because children do prefer playing activities, the use of games is very suitable and appropriate in their learning process (Kara et al., 2024).

  1. Learning Via Video Vlog

A video blog (vlog) is a form of blog that displays content in video format, usually uploaded sequentially, with the most recent posts at the front. The use of vlogs in learning, especially through platforms such as YouTube, falls into the Web Centric Course category. In this model, some learning materials, discussions, assignments, and exercises are delivered online, while exams and some face-to-face sessions are still conducted in person. This approach combines online and face-to-face learning for greater effectiveness (Premana et al., 2021).

  1. Video Learning (Tiktok Content Creators)

The four types of subjects that are often discussed by the best content creators on TikTok to learn English are vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and common mistakes. Learning English online via TikTok is very popular with the younger generation because the material is concise, easy to understand, and immediately useful. In addition, the appearance is attractive with various writing styles, as well as clear and clear audio, so that learning does not feel boring or monotonous (Bahri et al., 2022).

  1. Learning through digital media ICT (Information and Communication Technology)

English language skills in early childhood can be improved by using digital media based on ICT (digital) that is adjusted to the characteristics of children and technological developments. The use of ICT in learning is very beneficial for teachers and children, because it can train teacher creativity while enriching knowledge of information technology. For children, digital media helps the development of various aspects, maintains interest in learning, and motivates them during the learning process. Examples of effective ICT media for introducing English to children include video game series, multimedia applications, audio-video, web platforms, and other digital applications. This approach makes learning more interesting and in accordance with the current digital era (Angraini et al., 2023).

  1. Flashcard Application Learning

Digital flashcard applications are actually very easy to use and effective in introducing English to children. Its advantages include increasing children’s motivation in learning vocabulary and helping to strengthen their memory. Android-based flashcards are very practical because they can be accessed via smartphone handphone, easy to carry anywhere, and present short messages with interesting images that children like, so that the learning process becomes fun and not boring (Yanuarti et al., 2023).

  1. Learning by using AR (Augmented Reality) Picture Story Books

Augmented Reality (AR) technology is now widely studied in language learning, especially English, with various supporting media. One of the AR-based applications used to improve children’s English language skills is the Fantastic Words Kids application. The use of AR-based picture story books has also proven effective in enriching the English vocabulary of early childhood. This technology is able to create meaningful, interesting, and interactive learning experiences so that children can more easily understand the material and are motivated to learn English (Wahyuni & Muryanti, 2024).

  1. Storybook Learning

Introduction of storybooks to children involves psychological aspects such as intelligence and mental age that affect readiness and reading ability. Therefore, it is possible to use illustrated storybooks as a suitable learning medium for students in schools because they tend to like books with illustrations (Pahlevi et al., 2024).

  1. Native Speaker Learning

Learning English directly from native speakers is very effective in improving listening, understanding, and speaking skills. By interacting frequently with native speakers, students will become more accustomed to the use of natural sentences and vocabulary. After feeling familiar, it is important for students to build confidence and courage in communicating using English through direct conversations with native speakers. The use of information and communication technology (ICT) based learning media can help teachers introduce the pronunciation of words and simple sentences that are in accordance with the pronunciation of native speakers. Along with the demands to utilize ICT in the learning process, teachers must master this skill in order to create a more interesting learning experience that is different from conventional methods (Jumiatin & Lestari, 2021).

  1. Audio Visual Learning

English vocabulary development is carried out through a series of training activities carried out in the classroom by utilizing audio visual media, especially short English videos. This media provides an opportunity for students to listen to and understand the vocabulary presented in the video. In addition to increasing vocabulary, this activity also fosters enthusiasm and motivation to learn English in students. The positive impact of this training is seen not only in the school environment but also at home, where students become more confident and motivated to continue honing their English skills in their daily lives (Husen et al., 2023).

  1. Board Game Learning

Board games are a type of game played on a board using pawns, following the rules determined by the layout of the images on the board. In addition to pawns, some board games also involve various additional tools to support the game. In this game, the available cards direct children to read and answer questions related to the basics of English. The question cards are divided into two levels, namely easy and difficult levels, which are arranged randomly to provide variation. In this way, children naturally experience the process of learning while playing through reading, answering, and remembering activities simultaneously. In addition to the academic aspect, this game is also designed to foster social skills and interaction between children (Mufida & Abidin, 2021).

  1. Interactive Animation Learning

An interactive animation design was developed as a learning tool to introduce basic English concepts to children. This media includes teaching about the alphabet, numbers, types of vehicles, animals, and fruits. The animation was made using multimedia software such as Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and other similar applications. With this approach, interactive animation is able to attract children’s interest in learning and provide a fun and non-boring learning experience (Rahmawati et al., 2023).

  1. Vocabulary Learning in Animated Videos

Introducing English vocabulary through animated videos is a fun and effective method for children. In various studies, animated videos have been shown to provide opportunities for children to learn new words that they hear and see at the same time. The word “animation” itself comes from latin which means soul, because animation gives life to images so that they appear alive and real. As an audio-visual medium, animated videos combine elements of sound and images that attract children’s attention, so that the learning process becomes more interactive and fun (Annisa & Muryanti, 2022).

  1. Web-Based Application Learning

Google sheet becames an easily accessible game (flippity) is a free web-based application that allows users to transform data from Google Sheets templates into various educational activities or games that are easy to access. Its simple use makes google sheet becames an easily accessible game (flippity) highly recommended as a learning tool. In addition to being suitable for English material, this application can also be used for various other subjects. The various types of games provided by google sheet becames an easily accessible game (flippity) are fun and can trigger students’ enthusiasm and involvement during the learning process. With high motivation, students will find it easier to understand the material so that learning objectives can be achieved optimally (Tetty, 2023).

  1. Digital Literacy Learning

The term digital literacy is now understood as the ability to access, understand, evaluate, and utilize digital technology, information, and communication effectively and responsibly. Digital literacy includes the skills of finding, assessing, using, creating, and sharing information through various digital devices and encouraging critical thinking, creativity, innovation, and inspiring behavior in the digital environment.

The digital literacy products developed are in line with the spirit of the independent curriculum in early childhood education programs, which emphasizes the importance of developing children’s interests, talents, and enthusiasm through fun learning materials, including English learning. The books produced have also been compiled based on an analysis of the needs and indicators of the independent curriculum so that they are able to accommodate a child-centered learning approach. The validity and feasibility of this product have been tested by experts, who stated that this media is suitable for widespread use in English learning for early childhood, both in school and outside school environments (Adisti et al., 2020).

  1. Learning on Stolen English Sites

The Stolen Learning English site is a very useful platform for teachers in teaching English, especially because its features are specifically designed according to the needs and characteristics of elementary school students. This website presents learning materials packaged in the form of interesting educational games with exercises that are adjusted based on the children’s ability level. The main focus of learning through Stolen Learning English is to strengthen and introduce English vocabulary that is relevant to everyday life. In addition to increasing vocabulary, students also begin to understand the sentence structure in English gradually through the use of this site (Fadillah et al., 2024).
