He captioned the photos: “This year marks my mom’s 10th year of sobriety, and I’m grateful that we were able to celebrate in the White House with our family. Mom, I am so proud of you.” In the photos, the two were all smiles, but what really caught the public’s eye was the staggering height difference between Vance and his mother. Once, Google confused everybody by saying that JD Vance was 5 feet, 7 inches tall, as one X user pointed out. Anyone looking at the man can tell that this is not correct. His height was such a hot topic of discussion that New York Magazine contacted Vance’s close network to see just how tall Vance really is. Oren Cass, who was former Republican Senator Mitt Romney’s political adviser. While he didn’t have a specific number, he said, “Well, I’m 5’7″ and he’s definitely a lot taller than me, for whatever it’s worth!” Will Martin, who is JD Vance’s director of communications, told the magazine, “He is 6’2”.
Vance is too tall for his pants
Being taller than 6 feet means that you’re bound to have some wardrobe challenges and malfunctions once in a while. Vance himself was caught in a fashion faux pas when he was photographed at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), and photos were posted on social media in February 2025.
The photos showed that the very leggy Vance was wearing pants that were so short, they rode up above his socks, looking approximately capri-length. X users tore him apart in the comments based on how short the pants looked. One user said, “Based on this picture alone, I’m going to dub him as ‘JD Chicken Legs’. I think at this level of chronic public exposure, one needs a competent stylist.” Derek Guy, a professional men’s fashion expert, urged Vance’s wife to intervene, writing “The second lady should advise him to get wider pants and over the calf socks so that his bare leg doesn’t show when he sits down.” Capri pants aren’t exactly a power move in the world of politics, JD!
