The US President has said that he will visit Uvalde in Texas in the “coming days”, in the wake of the primary school massacre.

Speaking at the White House he said: “Jill and I will be travelling to Texas in the coming days to meet with the families to let them know we have a sense, just a sense of their pain, and, hopefully, bring some little comfort to a community in shock and grief and trauma.

“As a nation, I think we must all be there for them,” he said.

Since the attack, the President is among those who have criticised the country’s gun lobby and have called for new limitations on guns.
