Summary
‘Hometown’ is a mystery thriller in which a detective (Yoo Jae-myung), who is pursuing a murder case in Saju-si in 1999, and a woman (Han Ye-ri), who is searching for their kidnapped niece, face the worst terrorist in history (Um Tae-goo) and uncover secrets.
Yoo Jae-myung plays Choi Hyung-in, a detective in the homicide squad who lost his wife to a horrific terrorist crime. Hyung-in Choi, who lived like a ghost for 10 years because of the guilt of leaving his wife to die, is in charge of a murder case, and is a person who suspects that the terrorist and his family were involved in the case 10 years ago.
In addition, Han Ye-ri takes on the role of Jo Jung-hyeon, who lives with the social stigma of being a terrorist’s family. Jo Jung-hyeon, who ironically reconstructed a life ruined by his brother’s crimes through her brother’s daughter and nephew Jo Jae-young, faces tragedy again when her nephew, whom she treasures like her life, disappears. Expectations are high for Han Ye-ri, who is receiving global attention through the movie ‘Minari’, for her acting transformation.
In the play, Uhm Tae-goo, who stands in opposition to Yoo Jae-myung and Han Ye-ri, takes on the role of ‘Cho Kyung-ho’, a mystery prisoner who committed the worst indiscriminate terrorist incident in history. In 1989, as soon as he returned from studying in Japan, he committed a terrible indiscriminate terrorist attack by spraying nerve gas at his hometown train station. It raises interest in how Uhm Tae-gu will draw the veiled ‘Kyung-ho Jo’ character.
